When I started with UGA in 1995, I was looking for a chance to have six figure income without being gone overnight 4 days a week and to take control of my own destiny. To be able to enjoy my family and my life and to feel a part of something professionaly. I did not want an industry to dictate to me what I was worth. At UGA I was given the chance meet and exceed all of my original desires. I since have fulfilled all of my expectations and gone well beyond what I thought was possible.
I have control of my own destiny, I am building something for myself and my family and being rewarded for my efforts. I never came to UGA with income expectations of over a quarter million dollars per year and to build even greater wealth through our stock program but it has happened. All I was looking for was the opportunity to be own boss and if I worked twice as hard as someone with the same ability, to be rewarded accordingly. Advancement I felt should be earned and not given.
This also is what has happened to me here at UGA. Within one year I became a District Leader and now I am a Division Leader in the state of Iowa, supporting and helping over 30 other good people reach their potential.
The impact it has had on my family and other UGA reps around me here in Iowa has been tremendous. For us personally, it has allowed my wife with a Master's of Science degree to leave her $60,000 per year job and take on the most important career that I feel there is, as a homeschooling mother. Every day I watch her and our three daughters grow and learn together, each we all learn together. I have UGA to thank for this.
The impact it has had on reps within my Division has been a pleasure to watch. From going places around the world and doing things they never would have done, had it not been for recognition program. To the new homes built, the debt paid off they came here with, to most importantly, the satisfaction of knowing that they were responsible for their success.
There is nothing special about me, no college education, no special training. Just a Produce Manager in a chain grocery store for 11 years and then an overnight sales rep for 6 years. All I did here at UGA was what the other successful people around me did and told me to do. Most of all, to trust in them. The tools were there, I needed to pick them up, go to work and have some fun in doing so.
I really feel at UGA as if I am part of something, not just working for a Company without a heart or without feeling. The leadership and support in this company are unmatched by any other. I only hope that others have the same chance to fulfill their dreams as I have and to love those that they are doing it with. Before UGA, I never knew something like this was even out there to be found. What a wonderful surprise it has been!
